Climate change and environmental degradation are a huge threat to Europe and the world.
To overcome these challenges, Europe needs a new strategy for growth that transforms the Union into a modern, resource-efficient and competitive economy in which:
- in 2050 no more net greenhouse gas emissions are generated
- economic growth is decoupled from the use of resources
- no person and no place are overlooked.
The European Green Deal is the roadmap for making the EU economy sustainable. The intention is to achieve this by turning climate issues and environmental challenges into opportunities in all policy areas and making the transition fair and inclusive for all.
