Published on 8 March 2018, the Sustainable Finance Action Plan outlines the measures that the European Commission intends to take to steer the capital market towards a sustainable development model, inclusive and in line with the commitments made under the Paris Climate Agreement.
The document incorporates most of the recommendations of the High-Level Expert Group on Sustainable Finance.
The measures introduced by the Commission aim to:
– orient capital flows towards sustainable investment;
– manage more effectively the financial risks arising from climate change, resource consumption, environmental degradation and social inequalities;
– improve transparency and encourage a long-term approach to economic and financial activitiese.
